Wil was always destined to be a bass player. As a lanky teenager he was ideally suited to the instrument and subsequently started out on electric bass in a blues trio with two school friends. Rather than listen to or emulate other bass players, Wil would rather practice in isolation. After spending time in a progressive rock band and 12-piece jazz/blues band at university, he concentrated on listening to and absorbing different styles of music. Not influenced by a particular playing style or music genre, he felt free to explore his instrument in a way that suited his own development. This freedom has given him a unique playing style and melodic knowledge, which is evident in the sometimes subtle but often driving and rhythmic playing style which emphasizes the Zuleika backbone.
